Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that involves using a sterile scalpel to gently exfoliate the skin and remove fine hairs (vellus hairs or "peach fuzz").

Benefits:

  • Exfoliation: Removes dead skin cells and debris, revealing brighter and smoother skin.

  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles: By removing the top layer of skin, dermaplaning can help minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

  • Improves skin tone and texture: By removing dead skin cells and uneven skin tone, dermaplaning can leave the skin looking more even and radiant.

  • Enhances makeup application: The smooth, exfoliated surface makes it easier for makeup to glide on and last longer.

  • Removes fine facial hair: Dermaplaning gently removes vellus hairs, resulting in a more polished appearance.

Procedure:

  • A licensed professional will cleanse and disinfect the skin.

  • Using a sterile scalpel, the professional will gently scrape the skin in short, feather-like strokes, following the natural contours of the face.

  • The procedure typically takes about 15-30 minutes.

  • After dermaplaning, the skin may be slightly red and sensitive. A soothing moisturizer or serum will be applied to calm the skin.

Aftercare:

  • Avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen for at least 24 hours after the procedure.

  • Apply a gentle cleanser and moisturizer regularly.

  • Avoid using harsh or abrasive skin products.

  • Do not pick or scratch at the skin.

  • If any irritation or discomfort occurs, contact your healthcare provider.

Frequency:

Dermaplaning can be repeated every 4-6 weeks, depending on individual skin needs and preferences.

Precautions:

  • Dermaplaning is not suitable for people with active acne, open wounds, or sensitive skin conditions.

  • Pregnant women should consult their healthcare provider before undergoing dermaplaning.
